A California legislative commission has voted to allow state agencies to move forward with the adoption of building codes that include the International Building Code (IBC), International Fire Code (IFC) and International Residential Code (IRC). The California Building Standards Commission rescinded its code recommendations of July 2003, paving the way for the inclusion of the international codes.
The state’s agencies will send code recommendations to the commission for an approval process that is expected to be completed in two years.
