California Alarm Company Fires Independent Sales Rep for Allegedly Deceiving Potential Clients
The man went door-to-door telling people he had a ‘consulting’ role with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office to gain access to their homes.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. — An independent sales representative affiliated with a home security system dealer here was fired after allegedly telling potential clients that he was associated with the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.
The Pensacola News Journal reported on Monday that Guardian Security Solutions Skyline immediately took disciplinary action on the individual after being informed about the incidents. The suspect allegedly was wearing a “Skyline” shirt and was going door-to-door asking if he could inspect people’s home alarm systems after saying he was affiliated with the Sheriff’s office.

Chris Murphy, owner of the local alarm company dealership, said the suspect had only been with the company for two weeks and that it’s his understanding that the individual claimed to have a “consulting” role with the Sheriff’s Office.
“He tried to be shady at doors to ease access, and that’s enough for me” to terminate his employment, Murphy said.
Sgt. Rich Aloy said there’s no affiliation between the Sheriff’s Office and any alarm company. “We do not promote any company, and we don’t use them.”
