Major Canadian airports will utilize HID’s combination Prox
and iCLASS 13.56MHz contactless smart cards, the company
announced. The 200,000-card deployment is a part of the
Canadian Air Transport Security Authority (CATSA) and its
Restricted Area of Identification Card (RAIC) program, and
will begin this month.
HID’s cards meet CATSA’s strict requirements that include
specific ISO compliance, encryption and the support of
multiple biometric templates in card memory. The company
will manufacture CATSA’s cards with anti-counterfeiting
security features.
CATSA is responsible for program delivery, administration,
personnel training and procurement and deployment of
equipment in Canada.
RAIC monitors the issuance and administration of restricted
area identification cards.
