CANASA Changes Its Name

The Canadian Alarm and Security Association (CANASA) has a
new name. The association, the largest association of
electronic security professionals in Canada, will now be
known as the Canadian Security Association. The group will
retain its CANASA acronym with a slight color change to its
logo.

The fourth “A” in CANASA is switching from red to black like the preceding letters, while the “SA” will retain a red color to emphasize “Security Association.”

The change was approved by the association’s National Board of Directors in January and will be implemented immediately. “This subtle name change is an effort to reflect the shift taking place in the market and to better position CANASA as the leading spokesgroup on behalf of the industry,” says Tracy Cannata, executive director of CANASA, which was established in 1977. “We hope the new focus will enhance CANASA’s effectiveness with respect to safety and security issues among our stakeholders, including government, consumers and the industry in general.”

Cannata notes that the electronic security industry has expanded beyond traditional alarm systems to provide “highly sophisticated, leading edge solutions.”

“While our name may have changed slightly, it is important to note that this will not compromise any of the existing benefits and services that are currently provided to our membership,” Cannata says. “In fact, it will help us to better service the interests of members in the months and years ahead.”
