The Canadian Security Association (CANASA) has agreed to sponsor the Central Station Alarm Association’s (CSAA) Central Station Operators Online Training Course levels 1 and 2. According to CSAA, CANASA will sponsor and promote the program, which will train new and experienced central station operators on the operation of central station monitoring facilities.

The program will also teach the details behind the role of a central station operator. Included is how to communicate with the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) and public safety access points (PSAPs).

Also included is information on how to reduce false alarms, the equipment behind the central station, and also fire and security standards and codes.

CSAA says the Level 1 course has surpassed 2,000 trained operators with more than 60 percent of central stations receiving the five-diamond certification for having 100 percent of operators CSAA trained.
