Carter Brothers Division Adds GE Security’s EST3 at Chicago Hotel

Published: December 6, 2009

Carter Brothers’ Edwards Service division has installed GE Security’s EST3 automatic fire detection system that includes emergency voice communication and alarm notification at Swissôtel Chicago and the hotel’s new 38,000 square foot event center.

In addition to GE Security’s EST3 fire alarm system, the project included a retrofit of an existing hardwired fire panel. The new system is ADA compliant, capable of elevator recall, has a graphical interface, and meets the city’s high-rise codes. Carter Brothers was specifically chosen for the project because of the company’s experience with high-rise fire alarm system retrofits in Chicago.

The GE Security EST3 was selected for the project because it uses distributed technology that’s designed to survive expected and unexpected events.

Edwards Service has completed similar projects such as 1401 State St. in Chicago, Monarch Condominiums in New York City, and Post International in San Francisco.
