HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. – Police are searching for a man who was caught on a gas station’s video surveillance system stealing a car with a one-year-old baby inside.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on July 19, when the child’s grandmother pulled up to the gas station. The woman then entered the gas station, leaving her granddaughter and car keys in the car, ABC News reports.

In the surveillance footage, the carjacker can be seen walking up to the gas station and eyeing the car before jumping in and driving off.
The grandmother was also captured on video chasing after the vehicle.
Police used the signal from the grandmother’s cell phone to track down the car, finding it 30 minutes later, abandoned with the baby safely inside.
