Caught on CCTV: EF-1 Tornado Blows Through Ohio Town

Video surveillance footage shows an EF-1 tornado flying through Beavercreek, Ohio.

BEAVERCREEK, Ohio – The Beavercreek Police Department has released video surveillance footage of an EF-1 tornado that touched down in the city on Tuesday.

The video, which was captured by Greene Town Center security cameras, shows the twister flying in from left to right, only staying on the ground for one minute before tailing off, WLNS reports.

The twister reached maximum wind speeds of 105 mph and was 70 yards wide.

The tornado, which traveled a half mile, caused non-life threatening injuries to at least two people. Each one of the victims was in a vehicle when the tornado hit a popular shopping area during rush hour, WHIO.com reports.

As many as 22 cars suffered damage in the parking lot of the Greene Crossing Shopping Plaza, while as many as 30 homes behind the shopping center were damaged. Fewer than five homes were seriously damaged, according to officials.
