A video surveillance system at Florida Atlantic University captured part of a beating spree of homeless men sleeping on the campus. One of the beatings not captured on camera resulted in a man’s death.
The video shows two men chasing and beating with bats a homeless man who had been sleeping on a bench. According to a police officer, the suspects appeared to be laughing while they attacked the victim.
Police are looking for a group of men – described as two to four young white males – who authorities believe are responsible for the attacks. Because one of the victims, 45-year-old Norris Gaynor, died of injuries sustained during the beatings, the group of men will face murder charges. Two other unidentified homeless men are still in the hospital due to injuries sustained in the attacks. They remain in serious condition.
