CCTV Video Helped Police Catch Attackers of Homeless Men

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla.

Officials are saying Florida Atlantic University
surveillance video helped police track down two teenage
suspects in the Jan. 12 beating of a homeless man. The
teens are also suspects in a pair of other attacks on
homeless men at the school.

After theTARGET=’_blank’> national publicizing of video and
still photos showing two males chasing and beating a 58-
year-old transient, police received more than 100 tips.
Investigators contacted the suspects’ families within a day
of the video being aired.

An 18- and 17-year-old surrendered to police Jan. 15. Both
face aggravated battery charges for the beating and murder
of the 58-year-old transient, as well as charges for the
death of another 45-year-old man. The teens are also
suspected of beating a 49-year-old man in the same evening.
