The California Alarm Association (CAA) hosted its annual winter convention at the Parc 55 hotel in San Francisco. In previous years the conference schedule featured a host of hands-on product and technology training; however, the 2015 installment focused almost exclusively on transformational leadership. With security dealers and integrators under intense competition and struggling to keep pace with a fast-evolving industry landscape, the chore of reshaping – or even remaking – their internal business culture and business model is proving to be a colossal task for many.
“We have members of the association who are wondering if they should even be involved in the residential side of the business and instead focusing solely on the commercial market,” CAA President Cathy Rempel told me.
So, the association built a program schedule that offered a number of workshops that delved into how to develop leadership across all levels of a company; insight to achieving goals and remaining relevant in today’s changing industry; how to ensure internal and external customers receive timely follow-up that makes a difference to businesses; and much more.
