Comcast VoIP Service Does Not Integrate Home Alarm Systems

IRVING, Texas

In a letter presented to the Electronic Security Association (ESA), Comcast has made aware the limitations of its new HomePoint telephone service, which combines a wireless router and the company’s VoIP service.

According to Comcast, the VoIP service does not integrate with home alarm systems because of the device’s inability to support the automatic dialing function. The company has provided a sticker notice to customers with each device highlighting its home security system limitations.

Technicians who encounter the HomePoint device with the attached sticker during an installation are advised by Comcast to contact Mike Clancy at [email protected] or at (215) 286-4113. The company will deploy a newer, compatible device in place of HomePoint.
