Comcast is hoping to redefine the way consumers think about home security through its smart home platform, Xfinity Home.
Part of that initiative includes offering more smart home services through surveillance cameras, door locks, garage door openers, doorbells and others, according to Multichannel. In addition to its own smart home devices, it has third-party integrations with Nest (thermostats), Chamberlain (garage door controllers), Lutron (lighting) and August (locks).
“We have over the past year and a half focused heavily on disrupting the home security market,” said Dan Herscovici, senior vice president and general manager of Xfinity Home.
Comcast said last year that it had more than 500,000 Xfinity Home customers, according to the report. But that number has not been updated for this year. So does Comcast have what it takes to challenge the likes of ADT and others in this market?
Herscovici said Comcast hopes to hit on four areas to drive smart home adoption: life safety, peace of mind, saving money and lifestyle.
