Contributing to the global standards for RFID technology, RFID hardware solutions provider SAMSys Technologies Inc. is developing an ultra-high frequency (UHF) reader which will comply with recently drafted standards. The reader will be available to market in July.

In February, the Uniform Code Council and EAN Int’l announced the alignment of the technical requirements of their GTAG(tm)(Global Tag) standards initiative, with vendors contributing to the ISO 18000-6 standard.

According to SAMSys, the reader marks the first multifrequency and multiprotocol RFID hardware solution. The initial version of the company’s UHF reader will support the air interfaces expected in the committee draft standard CD ISO/IEC 18000-6 type A and type B and will incorporate additional user requirements as soon as they are finalized by upgrading with the appropriate firmware.
