Computers Stolen From Security Trade Show Floor

HONG KONG

Sometimes, not even the floor of a security show is safe
from thieves. An exhibitor at the Asia Securitex 2004 show
in Hong Kong had laptop computers stolen from two booths.
The Associated Press reports a Hong Kong police inspector
as saying that a mainland China gang was suspected as being
behind the heists and that it had considered the show, one
of the larger security products shows in Asia, as “easy
pickings.”

The value of the two computers stolen was $2,500. One of
the computers was stolen from the booth of the Hong Kong-
based security and infrastructure magazine RFP. “If
you can’t expect good security here, where can you expect
it?” RFP News Editor Shinah Lunty, who also had her cell
phone stolen, told AP.
