ASHLAND, Ore. – A synagogue here has installed a video surveillance system and panic buttons in response to the recent violent attack at a house of worship in South Carolina that left nine people dead.
Although there have been no recent attacks on houses of worship in Ashland, officials at Havurah Shir Hadash have installed a security camera system at its entrances to monitor who enters and exits the building, Mail Tribune reports.

Additionally, the synagogue installed a panic button that will alert police if someone enters and poses a threat.
However, not all members are pleased with the new security upgrades. Some believe that it is not appropriate for people going to houses of worship to be kept under surveillance.
