Access control manufacturer HID Corp. has been recognized for business excellence by a manufacturing awards board in Connecticut. The board of advisors for the Connecticut Shingo Prize has given HID its first-ever Connecticut Shingo Commendation for Excellence in Leadership Culture and Infrastructure.
Connecticut Gov. M. Jodi Rell presented the commendation to HID Director of Manufacturing Brian Montanari on Nov. 16.
The prize is designed to be a state-level version of the national Shingo Prize that recognizes manufacturing excellence. It is named for Shigeo Shingo, who developed the production system for automaker Toyota.
“HID has made remarkable strides with their enterprise-wide adoption of Lean Manufacturing principles and techniques, which is the basis of the Shingo Prize criteria,” said Rebecca Kane Dow, Connecticut Shingo Prize program manager. “In less than 18 months, HID has been transformed, adopting a true continuous improvement culture, and has created an environment where every employee is empowered to participate.”
