Card Access was one of the first suppliers of ZigBee-enabled devices, making sensors, relays, range extenders, keyfobs and other accessories exclusively for Control4 home automation systems.
Now Control4 has acquired the supplier’s home automation assets, including products and intellectual property. As of today, Control4 is taking over manufacturing, technical support and sales for the ZigBee devices, which were already being sold through Control4’s dealer portal.
“Card Access solutions have been designed solely to enhance the capabilities of the Control4 system and they have done that beautifully for many years,” said Control4 VP of Security & Communications Paul Williams in statement. “They [devices] are true workhorses, and we want to make sure our dealers know how to leverage them to create personalized solutions for their customers,” added Williams.
While Card Access is exiting the home automation device manufacturing business, the company will continue business as usual producing hardware and software for telematics, military, medical and other industries.
