Convergint, United Protection Security Group Seek Partnership

United Protection Security Group Inc. (UPSG) of Calgary announces it has signed a letter of understanding to explore partnerships with Schaumburg, Ill.-based systems integrator Convergint Technologies.

UPSG provides guard, loss prevention and installation services in Alberta, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

As an independent integrator, Convergint Technologies has established relationships with multiple leading technology partners and industry leaders such as GE, Honeywell, Sony and others involved in converging the IT enterprise of customers to deliver integration across the IT infrastructure.

According to a company statement, building a relationship with Convergint Technologies will allow UPSG the technological support and customer service capability to expand its video surveillance and video monitoring services in western Canada. Convergint Technologies operates 17 locations in North America, including four in Alberta and one in British Columbia.

The objective of the agreement is to form an alliance that will enable each company to reap the benefits of each other’s complementary capabilities to offer clientele “bundled” services, says Don Stewart, business development manager of Convergint.

Services could involve joint marketing, co-branding and preferred supplier status for new and existing customers of both companies.
