C.O.P.S. Monitoring has completed its $250,000 database management software upgrade to provide greater system reliability and increased speed for the reporting and data retrieval processes at its central stations.

The D3 Database Management software smoothes the integration between C.O.P.S.’ database and the company’s COP-A-Link online customer and dealer access portal. It now offers more secure, simultaneous and full-featured Web connectivity, as well as access to richer data sets.

“Our new software solution will help C.O.P.S. meet our goal of delivering the most consistent and professional service to our dealers and monitored accounts today and in the future,” says James McMullen, president of C.O.P.S. Monitoring. “In fact, we’re already seeing greater improvements upon our already impressive response times.”

The D3 software requires information to be stored in flat, two-dimensional tables, allowing each record to include multiple data fields with each field having multiple values and sub-values associated with it. This allows users to compare current information with prior data without having to open a separate record.

The new software also includes a “hot backup” solution, which writes every transaction to both the primary and backup servers. In case of an emergency, the feature allows C.O.P.S. to instantly switch between servers, ensuring that no alarms are missed.

C.O.P.S. was able to make the transition without taking its central station offline or interrupting service.
