BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. — Students at Crosspointe Elementary School, located here, are starting the new school year with necessary supplies donated at an annual charitable cause facilitated by Mission 500 and security industry professionals.

“We are thrilled to celebrate our fifth year of supporting this great cause with a record number of backpack donations,” states Tom Nolan, director of strategic partnerships for Mission 500. “The security industry is a dedicated and generous group of individuals, and we thank them for their time and financial donations that make this annual event a success.”

COPS Monitoring served as the primary sponsor of the annual “Back to School Backpack Event,” held Aug. 9, with Hikvision’s Miami office serving as co-sponsor. The companies partnered with Mission 500 to support local students who attend the Title 1 Crosspointe Elementary School.

“Our business of safeguarding millions of homes and businesses nationwide is built on a foundation that places an extraordinary emphasis on the importance of ‘people helping people’,” states Jim McMullen, COPS Monitoring’s president and COO. “To further this goal, it’s been our honor to work with Mission 500 for the past several years helping to fill the immediate need of providing children with the school supplies that will give them the ability to start the school with the essential tools they need to be successful.”

Hikvision Miami Logistics and Facility Manager Anthony Martinez, and Florida and Puerto Rico sales director Shane Nikov, represented the company at the event.

Volunteers filled 700 backpacks with various items including pens, pencils, binders, markers and notebooks, and distributed the backpacks to students at the school. Hikvision Miami employees who couldn’t attend the event wrote messages of encouragement for the students.

“It was truly a special event. We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community by investing in our youth, providing them with important items for school, and delivering a message of hope,” says Martinez.
