Panasonic recently announced the introduction of a cordless telephone, the model KXTG2970B, that works in conjunction with ADT home alarm systems. According to Panasonic, this is an industry first.
The new cordless phone operates on 2.4GHz and makes use of digital frequency hopping spread spectrum technology. According to Panasonic, it will work with both new and existing ADT alarm systems. It also features caller ID, ITAD, and can be expanded to include three accessory handsets.
Panasonic expects to sell the new cordless system to a potential market of 6 million ADT alarm subscribers. According to Forbes.com, the new Panasonic cordless phone offering is expected to encourage new security sales because it eliminates the need for a wall panel. Panasonic sought compatibliity with ADT systems because ADT is the largest alarm company in the U.S. The new cordless phone will be sold exclusively through retail outlets and not ADT.
