COURT TV, LADIES HOME JOURNAL START SAFETY CHALLENGE 2002

Ladies Home Journal and Court TV announce an agreement in which the magazine and television network have joined forces with ABC News to create and produce original content that will form the Court TV/Ladies Home Journal Safety Challenge 2002. The Challenge will be a two-part television special that will air in spring and fall consisting of magazine reports and high-profile television events that intend to focus on family and personal safety issues Americans face in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The first special, which will air in April, will look at how many Americans, especially women, are attempting to take control of their safety and the safety of their families. Topics will include home safety, safeguarding important documents, travel safety and staying safe in large public places.
The second special will air in August. The show will concern children’s safety with back-to-school issues at the forefront. Specific segments will deal with school safety, communications and warning systems.
Danial Lagani, vice president and publisher of Ladies Home Journal, says, “Safety has taken on a new significance in the post-Sept. 11 world. In fact, in our recent national poll, ‘The Voice of the Real Women,’ we reported that 80 percent of women are seeking greater control and security over their lives and the lives of their families. And nearly two-to-one voted that safety/control mattered more to them than simplicity.”
