CSAA and SIA Announce Operator Certification Agreement

VIENNA, Va.
Published: April 14, 2004

The Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the
Security Industry Association (SIA) have announced a
training reciprocity agreement. A new procedure allows CSAA
and SIA to recognize an operator certificate issued by the
other association. Under the new agreement, SIA-certified
operators who completed the SIA/APCO “Train-the-Trainer”
program or were trained by certified SIA/APCO central
station instructors can receive a Central Station Operator
Level I online training certificate from CSAA.

In the same vein, CSAA Level I graduates may receive SIA-
certification if at least one operator in the central
station is a SIA/APCO “Train-the-Trainer” operator or
instructor.

In this case, the trainer must submit a $10 processing fee
and documentation verifying that the operator is
knowledgeable and competent.
