Schools in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, Texas, are considering letting police monitor the schools’ CCTV systems from their patrol cars. The Dallas Independent School District (DISD), which includes schools in Frisco, will consider later this month whether to allow police to link to 100 security cameras in Frisco schools.
The schools are installing the CCTV system this summer. Under the system, reported by the Dallas Morning News, officers near schools would able to link up through a password to the digital security system.
DISD Superintendent Mike Moses called a special meeting to take place later this month to discuss the issue. However, the status of that meeting may change after Moses announced his resignation July 14 for undisclosed reasons saying he needed more time with his family. The resignation will be effective Aug. 31.
