DALLAS – The city of Dallas has decided to upgrade security at the Dallas Police Department’s (DPD) Jack Evans Police Headquarters after the facility was attacked in June.
During the June 13 attack, James Boulware show more than 40 bullets into police headquarters after leaving pipe bombs in the parking lot, CBS News Dallas reports.
Boulware had a history of delusional thoughts and was angry about losing custody of his son, Heavy.com reports. He was shot and killed by a police sniper after being cornered in a fast-food restaurant parking lot. No officers were injured.
City officials estimate that it will cost $7 million to upgrade security at police headquarters and seven other patrol stations.
Suggestions include adding bulletproof glass, more fencing and updating security systems.
However, city officials note that structurally, the building cannot support all of the suggested security measures.
