Datakey Inc. and HID Corp. have signed a bilateral reseller
agreement, under which the companies will resell a smart ID
badge combining the technology of both firms. The
integrated smart ID badge will incorporate Datakey’s smart
chip and Axis software for logical security applications
and Irvine, Calif.-based HID’s proximity technology for
physical security applications.

Under the agreement, both companies have established a
limited quantity of the product, suitable for customers
interested in securing access to buildings, enterprise
networks and applications.

Designed to support pilot programs in large corporations
and provide a cost-effective smart ID solution for small
enterprises, the Datakey/HID program accommodates quick
turnaround for end users ordering up to 1,000 smart ID
badges.

Datakey Axis, an authentication and single sign-on
solution, locks users’ digital credentials onto a smart
card or USB token, which is fortified with two-factor
authentication and automated enforcement of password
policies.
