Sensormatic Electronics Corp. recently held its Insight 2001 conference in Bel Harbour, Fla., where more than 240 dealers and distributors from 14 countries had their pick of practical seminars that focused on such topics as capitalizing on the Internet and building better customer relationships.

“The goal of Insight is to provide our partners with tools to help them run their businesses better,” says Per-Olof Loof, president and CEO of Sensormatic. Other seminar topics included “Leadership in the Digital Age—Principles of High-Tech/High-Touch leadership” and “Selling to Value.”

The conference’s keynote speaker, Atlanta Braves’ sports psychology consultant Jack Llewellyn, discussed the importance of not comparing one’s self with competitors, pointing out that simply because one is better than their competitors does not necessarily mean one is achieving his or her personal best.

“The conference was very useful, as it gave me an idea of what Sensormatic is planning for the future,” says Isac Tabib, vice president of ACI (Antarcom Inc.), a White Plains, N.Y.-based systems integrator. “Also, the seminars pertaining to running our businesses were very good. Although I run a business every day, it was helpful to see where I am doing things right and where I might consider doing things differently.”
