The parent company of Dedicated Micros Inc. has acquired a company specializing in mobile video surveillance and traffic law enforcement. Dedicated Micros Group (DMG) of Manchester, England acquired Traffic Safety Systems (TSS), also based in England. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
TSS, founded in 1973, has specialized in vehicle-mounted CCTV. Nigel Petrie, group chairman of DMG, sees the acquisition as an important move in the growth of his company.
“The technological and marketing synergies between the companies are enormous,” Petrie says. “Dedicated Micros’ digital video recording equipment is already used extensively by police forces around the world. With mobile and rapid deployment CCTV systems becoming increasingly important, the acquisition of TSS provides us with an opportunity to offer specially-designed digital recording devices, video servers and related accessories to TSS’ existing customer base and beyond.”
