PLEASANTON, Calif. — Deep Sentinel, a startup provider of artificial intelligence (AI)-based security cameras and monitoring services for the residential market, has launched a similar offering for small-to-medium businesses.
Deep Sentinel for Business is said to provide after-hours protection against crimes like vandalism and theft, while featuring many of the same benefits as the company’s home security product. In an announcement, the company, based here, says the new offering underwent 10 months of live user testing with more than a dozen small businesses.
The company’s weatherproof cameras use AI to detect potential threats, alerting one of the company’s LiveSentinel guards to unusual activity, including loiterers. Guards can then intervene through the system’s two-way audio and 104dB siren, with the ability to contact local law enforcement, according to an announcement.
“Unlike other service providers, Deep Sentinel helps prevent crime through smart detection and live, human intervention — our goal is to actively stop a crime from ever occurring, rather than simply alerting businesses after the damage is done,” states CEO and Co-Founder David Selinger.
The system kit includes three wireless cameras with wall mounts, a hub and four rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The 1080p cameras offer full HD recording and streaming, and include night vision and PIR motion sensing to 35 feet with a 130° field of view. The AI engine detects people, animals and objects, and is said to interpret behavior in real time. This capability distinguishes between a potential intruder and a dog or other non-threats.
The company’s security gear and concepts were initially showcased at CES 2019 in Las Vegas.
A Deep Sentinel kit retails for $499. A one-year minimum subscription service starts at $49/month for the home residence solution, and $100/month for the business solution. Installation and setup is said to be simple with single screw, one-step camera mounting and zero configuration WiFi.
The company also announced a venture capital investment from Nationwide, bringing its total Series A funding to $24 million. Previous investors in Deep Sentinel include Shasta Ventures, Bezos Expeditions, Lux Capital and UP2398.
