DICE Acquires Interstar’s Technology for Product Platform

Published: September 11, 2001

DICE Corp. officially announced its Aug. 21 acquisition of InterSTAR‘s video monitoring technology, the foundation for DICE’s new product called Video Stream, at ISC East held Aug. 28-30 in New York. Both companies have been working together for the past two years to build the technology into the DICE platform. It is currently in place in more than 2,000 locations.

According to company officials, the technology is the only video-monitoring software that provides two-way video and audio, allowing central station operators and the locations being monitored to view and communicate with each other simultaneously. InterStar sold the video monitoring technology to DICE for an undisclosed price, giving DICE complete rights to manufacture and sell it.

Company officials add that the site network platform Video Stream operates on will allow it to expand into a home gateway for personal home automation and maintenance. Remote home management, telemedicine, biometrics and card access are also a few of the avenues DICE has in line for development.
