At ISC West 2014, Digital Watchdog announced its technology plans and its collaboration with Linear to an integrated access control and video surveillance solution.

Digital Watchdog arrived at ISC West to spread awareness for its MEGApix IP technology. Featured is a new line of solutions, including IP cameras, NVRs, encoders, hybrid recorders and IP video management (IPVM) software.

The company’s IP cameras transmit data and receive power via PoE, eliminating the need to run separate cables for power and control. The hook here is removing the complexity of network-powered devices with features like universal plug and play (UPnP), while maintaining premium image quality and feature sets, as well as affordability.

The ONVIF-compliant MEGApix family of cameras support two-way audio, remote auto focus and optical zoom, programmable privacy zones and much more. Ian Johnston, CTO of Digital Watchdog who joined the company following its acquisition of ISD, a company he founded, told me the company will add a 4K ultra HD camera to its portfolio later this year.

Meanwhile, Linear has collaborated with Digital Watchdog to produce the e3 OneBox, integrating access control and video surveillance into a single solution that’s billed as easy-to-install, scalable and chockablock with features for enhanced security management and monitoring. No longer do installing security contractors and their end customers have to contend with two different systems for managing access control and video, Nick Brown, a PR/marketing specialist for Linear, told me.

The e3 OneBox, a Linux-embedded appliance, comes with either four or eight channel analog video inputs with storage configuration options ranging from 500GB to 2TB. A full suite of Digital Watchdog remote applications are available, including video management options for smartphones, tablets, browsers and more.
