Safety Technology
Int’l Inc. (STI) of Waterford, Mich.,
introduces its solar wireless driveway monitor. It detects up to a
distance of
500 feet any vehicle entering or exiting a driveway (a greater
detection range
is achieved by mounting the transmitter 4 to 8 feet off the ground).
The sensor
uses a patented magnetometer sensor system. Movement of any large
metallic
object close to the sensor will transmit a signal from the transmitter
to the
indoor receiver, causing the receiver to chime and flash for 15 minutes
or
until reset. According
to the company,
people, animals and shadows will not trigger the sensor.
