Duncan Security Systems Commemorates 30th Year in Business

Published: August 25, 2013

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Duncan Security Systems (DSS), a full service electronic security company based here, will celebrate its 30th anniversary next month.

Company President Joe Duncan Jr., established DSS in 1983 out of the basement of his family home with a goal to provide security services to Middle Tennesseans. To accommodate increasing demands for its services, the family-owned and operated firm moved into a commercial building in 1985. DSS now provides intrusion, fire alarm, cameras and access control systems, as well as 24/7 monitoring to a residential and commercial client base.

Despite a turbulent economy, DSS continues to see many opportunities for growth, in part, by leveraging new technologies, Duncan says. In 2012, DSS grew by 14%, which the firm attributes to the recent high demand for cameras with off-site viewing, Z-Wave home/business automation systems, wireless monitoring using GSM and environmental products.
