Dynamark Security Centers Acquires Midwest Central Station

DAYTON, Ohio — Dynamark Security Centers, an independent dealer program, has expanded its footprint in the Midwest following its acquisition of Security Service Center (SSC), a central station based here. Terms of the deal were not released.

The acquisition brings Hagerstown, Md.-based Dynamark, which operates its own central station, significant market share in the Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana markets, Tom Piston, vice president of sales & marketing for Dynamark, tells SSI.

Piston declined to mention how much recurring monthly revenue (RMR) the deal brings to the firm or how many accounts the company now monitors. However, he says the transaction “adds a significant number of alarm companies to Dynamark’s growing dealer base, as well as a generous increase to its base of wholesale accounts in the Cincinnati, Dayton and Columbus markets.” Some key SSC employees will remain with Dynamark within its retail operations.

Operated by Tony Shanks, the family-owned SSC has been in business for more than 20 years. When Shanks decided to sell the central station to focus more on his alarm company, Wilmington Security, he sought to merge with a full-service operation that would bring new expertise and technology to SSC’s dealer base.

“I needed a company that would take care of my dealers and be there to support my own alarm company,” he says. “Dynamark is that company. We are now served by a UL Listed, CSAA Five 5-Diamond central station, and we’re part of a dealer program that can help all of us grow our businesses.”

One of the bonuses of the Dynamark dealer program is that it does not require alarm companies to sell accounts. Serving independent dealers nationwide, the program offers dealers national product distribution, account funding and acquisition programs, training and more. As part of the program, former SSC dealers now have access to free marketing support, according to Piston.

“A number of them have already utilized Dynamark’s marketing department to design new brochures and launch new Web sites,” he says.

Now that Dynamark has expanded into the Midwest, the company plans to increase its presence in the Southeast region. During ESX 2013, the firm announced a strategic partnership with Hickory, N.C.-based The Systems Depot, a low-voltage security products distributor.

“The partnership expands our distribution reach, bringing Dynamark preferred dealer pricing to all Systems Depot locations,” Piston says.
