Eagle Eye Deploys 13K Cloud Cameras for Citywide Project

Eagle Eye Networks and its reseller partner fast-tracked installation of 13,550 cameras in a surveillance program utilizing 4G connectivity.

AUSTIN, Texas — Eagle Eye Networks announces the completion of a large-scale, citywide surveillance program involving the installation of 13,550 cameras with 4G connectivity in four months.

The name and location of the city was not disclosed.

The installation team was deployng approximately 250 cameras per day at its peak. The cameras are all operational, remotely monitored and providing safety and security to citizens today, according to the announcement.

4G connectivity with Eagle Eye Networks’ bandwidth optimization was utilized in order to facilitate the quick deployment, which the company says is one of the fastest project completions of its kind.

“In the future 4G and 5G technology will likely be a go-to solution for large-scale distributed surveillance projects. It can save a lot of time and money on installation,” says  Dean Drako, CEO of Eagle Eye Networks.

The fast-paced install occurred amid the global supply chain challenges caused by COVID-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus; however, Eagle Eye Networks’ strong partnership with both the reseller and suppliers provided alternatives and solutions to keep the project on schedule.

The company’s solution was chosen because the Eagle Eye Cloud Video API platform provides an open solution that allows integration of new technologies (AI, advanced analytics, search, license plate recognition), new suppliers, and new cameras at any time, according to the company.

Future-proofing the city’s investment and eliminating the headaches associated with managing large data centers was crucial in their decision.

Scalability and video accessibility are two key pillars of success in a citywide surveillance deployment in order to help streamline operations including public safety, traffic flow management, infrastructure and transportation.

“When deploying a citywide surveillance project, scalability, retention, and cellular transmission must be considered. Eagle Eye’s Cloud video retention and massive on demand scalability make it ideal for large scale deployments,” Drako says. “To operate your own large data center system for video recording is expensive and challenging. With Eagle Eye’s subscription service we provide a more robust and lower cost answer for large scale deployments.”
