Earnings Round-Up: Honeywell, Ingersoll Rand

A 16-percent jump in profit for the division that includes
Honeywell Security helped Honeywell finish 2005 with a 23-
percent increase in net earnings compared to the year
before. Honeywell earned $1.7 billion for the 12 months
that ended on Jan. 31 compared to $1.45 billion in 2004 on
sales of $27.7 billion.

The Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) segment that
includes Honeywell’s fire and security alarm manufacturing
businesses was the second-most profitable business for
Honeywell last year, trailing only Aerospace. ACS moved
beyond the $1 billion barrier for the first time with net
earnings of $1.1 billion on sales of $9.4 billion.

In other earnings news …

INGERSOLL-RAND: Despite a 12-percent increase in revenue for 2005, Ingersoll Rand (IR) saw its net profit go down 13 percent in 2005 with a 15-percent increase in revenue for its security properties.
IR< which last year saw its earnings go up 53 percent in 2004 to $1.2 billion, had a net $1.1 billion profit in 2005 on revenue of $10.6 billion.
Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies, which includes such brands as Recognition Systems and Locknetics, had sales of $2.1 billion in 2005 compared to $1.8 billion the year before.
