NEW YORK — Attendance at the 2008 International Security Conference (ISC) & Expo East crept upward from the previous year, according to the event’s producer. That may be no small feat, considering the current economic struggles and wickedly high lodging costs in Manhattan.
More than 325 companies participated at the exposition, held Oct. 29-30 at the Jacob K. Javits Center. And while Reed Exhibitions, producer of the ISC portfolio of events, reported attendance was up 3 percent compared to last year, a foreboding tone was all too evident in discussions on the show floor. The vast majority of industry professionals, particularly on the supplier side or among the larger installation operators, are reducing expenses wherever possible and preparing to weather a widespread downturn in business. This fact was evident, in part, by the many exhibitors that downsized from past installments of ISC East.
Still, SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION spoke with many vendors that were nonetheless pleased with the turnout and their booth traffic. Among them: Samsung Techwin, Phihong, JVC, Honeywell, Pelco, Garrettcom, Aleph, Speco, Affiliated Central, OnSSI, Boyle & Chase, Tamron, Dynalock, ADI, Tri-Ed, NationWide Digital Monitoring, Comnet, System Sensor, Aventura, Brivo and Bosch.
