Electronic Systems Consortium Reveals New Name, Focus
TAMPA, Fla.
With an expanded focus on training and lobbying
legislation, the Consortium for Electronic Systems
Technician Training has changed its name to the Electronic
Systems Industry Consortium (ESIC). The ESIC consists of 10
trade associations that represent those employed in
electronic systems industries, including the National
Burglar and Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA), Security
Industry Association (SIA), Associated Locksmiths of
America (ALOA) and the Custom Electronic Design and
Installation Association (CEDIA).
The group has previously developed a 500-hour training
curriculum for electronic system technicians and plans in
the coming year to offer training assessments for
electronic systems technicians as well as recognizing
electronic systems training programs from industry
organizations.
“The name change reflects the newly expanded scope of our
mission,” says Billilynne Keller, executive director of
CEDIA and the newly elected president of the ESIC.
The group also plans to expand efforts to take action on
legislation that impacts the electronic systems industry.
