GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — EPS Security has acquired full-service electronic security firm Browning Detection Systems (BDS) of Lowell, Mich., for an undisclosed amount.

Finalized in May, the deal adds more than 50 contracted security accounts to EPS’ customer base of more than 18,000 commercial and residential clients, MLive.com reports.

Started by Stephen Browning in 2001, BDS provides access control, CCTV, fire alarms, intercoms, intrusion alarms, medical alert systems and monitoring services. As part of the transaction, Browning will remain with EPS Security as a project manager.

This is the second purchase in the West Michigan area that EPS has purchased in two years. Last year, the firm, which serves clients throughout Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin, acquired 1,100 commercial and residential accounts from Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Eagle Security.
