ESA’s SECURE+ Initiative to Help Dealers Market Security, Home Control Services

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — With telecoms and cable providers entering into the home security and automation market, the Electronic Security Association (ESA) has unveiled an initiative to help its members promote those services and stay ahead of the competition.

Developed by an ESA task force made up of operating alarm companies, manufacturers and service providers, the SECURE+ Initiative establishes the ESA SECURE+ Seal of Acceptance. The association encourages its members to feature the shield-like logo, which markets the full-feature technology services as “connect, protect and control,” on their Web sites and other marketing tools, such as sales brochures and service vehicles.

“Homeowners have come to rely upon their electronic security services provider — ESA members in particular — as the trusted technology resource to install, service and monitor the new, smarter security systems that are at the very heart of the connected home,” ESA Executive Director & CEO Merlin Guilbeau says. “This campaign can help us raise awareness both inside and outside of the industry that many of our members are providing these sophisticated services all day, every day.”

The campaign also includes the ESA Accepted SECURE+ Awards competition. Aimed at honoring innovation and technical skill, the award categories encourage companies to provide solid customer testimonials. Categories include:

  • Life Safety Award for the most innovative use of interactive services in a life safety situation.
  • Peace of Mind Award for interactive services that connect family members.
  • Protect and Connect Award for the best use of interactive services in an intrusion scenario.
  • Sustainable Lifestyle Award for installations that reduce energy consumption and costs in a residential home.
  • I Love My Pet Award for interactive services protecting family pets.

“This campaign is an opportunity to showcase the terrific job ESA member companies are doing for customers who need security services for protection, but who want to use technology to connect and control every aspect of their busy lives,” Guilbeau says.

Interested parties can submit nominations for the awards in the coming weeks. ESA will announce the winners at the ESA Leadership Summit, Feb. 18-21, 2013 in Orlando, Fla.
