CHARLOTTE, N.C. — During the Electronic Security Association’s (ESA) awards banquet Tuesday at ESX, the association named its 2010 Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year and the 2011 Sara E. Jackson Memorial Award winner.
Pasco, Wash.-based Moon Security Vice President Mike Miller earned the Weinstock award, which is considered the highest honor in the industry. The award recognizes an individual’s continued efforts in the security industry.
Miller, ESA immediate past president and a member of SSI‘s advisory board, has served in the industry since the late 1970s. Since 1991, he has actively worked with ESA on a national level. Having served as president of ESA’s Washington chapter three times, Miller has been chairman, or is currently serving as chairman, of the following committees: Budget/Audit, Elections, Investment, Membership, False Alarm, Political Action and Strategic Planning. In 2005, he earned the Sarah E. Jackson Memorial Award for his outstanding leadership as a committee chair.
“Mike has been a long-time supporter of ESA,” said ESA President Dom D’Ascoli. “He has always been available to help, regardless of the task at hand. His knowledge and experience has been a tremendous asset to our association and this industry. He is a most deserving recipient of this award.”
LJ Lynes of Stanley Security Solutions earned the Jackson award, which recognizes an ESA committee chairperson who displays outstanding leadership. Lynes is chairman of the ESA Education Committee.
“You don’t have to spend much time around this guy before you know how devoted he is,” said D’Ascoli. “His continued commitment to excellence has made him the hands-down winner of this award.”
The honor is named for Sara E. Jackson who served as president of the association 1950-51.
