ESX Luncheon to Tackle Public Safety Partnerships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte (N.C.) Fire Chief John Hanann will discuss security industry/public safety relationships at the Industry IceBreaker Luncheon at the 2011 Electronic Security Expo (ESX). The SECURITY SALES & INTEGRATION-sponsored event is planned for June 7 at noon. Hanann is also Charlotte’s homeland security director.

“I believe the relationship between security professionals and public safety officials is incredibly important,” says Hanann, a 32-year department veteran. “I support any opportunity that allows us to come together to educate and empower each other. We can become a proactive force for public safety.”

The Security Industry Alarm Coalition (SIAC) William N. Moody Award and the Police Dispatch Quality Award (PDQ) will also be presented at the event.

Nominations are still being accepted for the sixth annual PDQ Award. The accolade honors installing and monitoring businesses for creating best practices that help limit false alarm dispatches. It is presented by SIAC, False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) and SSI. During the ceremony, the winner will receive $1,000 courtesy of Honeywell. The winner will also be featured in SSI‘s upcoming August issue.

Applications must be postmarked by Feb. 28.
