ESX Seminars Make Big Impression On Attendees

PITTSBURGH

The education seminars and workshops proved to be a big hit at this year’s Electronic Security Expo (ESX), hosted by the Central Station Alarm Association (CSAA) and the Electronic Security Association (ESA) June 16-17 in Pittsburgh.

Many of the educational offerings were standing room only, with hundreds of industry professionals attending numerous seminars, workshops and exhibitor-offered training sessions. Topics covered included industry trends in IP video surveillance, best practice RMR models, the future of POTS and other topics vital to the security industry.

“At an hour-long seminar, I took about four pages of notes,” Larry Black of Diebold Inc. tells SSI. “I’m not usually that meticulous, but [I’ve] learned a lot [by being here].”

In addition to the educational offerings, ESX 2010 offered a variety of networking events, from the ESX Club Crawl and Big Bash to the more formal industry celebration and award ceremonies.

More than 600 attendees were present at the Industry IceBreaker and the keynote address luncheon events, where Pittsburgh Chief of Police Nathan Harper and former Pittsburgh Steeler Rocky Bleier addressed the audience.

Also during the luncheon, the 2010 Police Dispatch Quality (PDQ) Award was given to Broadview Security for its efforts in reducing false alarms.

“Building relationships, making contacts, seeing what’s new out there and what we can take advantage of in the market and meeting some of the dealers for sure is primarily why we’re here,” says Mike Dowling, also of Diebold Inc.
