Extreme CCTV Cameras Capture License Plates at World’s Longest Bridge

LAKE PONTCHARTRAIN, La.
Published: April 23, 2007

Extreme CCTV’s REG camera is being used to capture license plates for a tolling application from vehicles traveling at highway speeds at Lake Pontchartrain Causeway in New Orleans.

The 24-mile-long bridge holds the distinction as the world’s longest bridge and carries an estimated 30,000 vehicles per day. The REG cameras are designed to take high-contrast images of license plates from vehicles traveling up to 100 miles per hour, day and night.  The project was completed by Stealth Security, a Louisiana-based company specializing in consultation, installation and service of integrated security systems.
