The New York Housing Authority recently ordered 200 of the EX36 cameras, made by Extreme CCTV, to be used to survey elevators at Queensbridge Houses in New York, the nation’s largest public housing development. Elcor Int’l of Flushing Meadows, N.Y., will install the cameras.

“We specified the EX36 camera over the others because of its rugged design and ability to monitor an entire room, even under the camera,” says Elcor’s David Gonzalez.

New York City Councilman Eric Gioia says the camera installation will make the residents of Queensbridge feel safer at night. Gioia attributes the installation of EX36 cameras in another public housing development for a 27-percent reduction in crime.
