Extreme CCTV Wins Bid to Supply New York Transit Security Video System

Surveillance equipment company Extreme CCTV US has been picked as a subcontractor for New York City’s transit security video system.

Extreme CCTV says it was selected by Lockheed Martin for the deal and will provide the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) with programs and hardware designed to “combat terrorism” in the transit system. The contract is worth about $920,000, which the company says is its largest ever.

The MTA monitors the New York City Transit, Long Island Railroad, Metro North Railroad and MTA bridges and tunnels which a combined passenger count of more than 7.8 million a day.

The company will deploy an Integrated Electronic Security System and Command, Communications and Control (IESS/C3) program at key locations throughout the MTA’s transportation infrastructure.
