ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The False Alarm Reduction Association (FARA) bestowed Vector Security with Industry False Alarm Reduction Achievement Award at the association’s annual conference here on May 1-3.
FARA presents the award to an electronic security company that demonstrates meaningful reduction in false alarm rates. A public safety agency must nominate the company, while industry peers, alarm association representatives and public safety officials vote for the winner at FARA’s annual meeting.
This is the second time that Vector Security has taken home the accolade, according to Vector Security President and CEO Pam Petrow.
“Reducing false alarms is extremely important to us,” she says. “They not only consume valuable financial and human resources, but they also distract first responders from performing their core responsibilities.”
To keep false alarms at a minimum, Vector Security employs a 12-point false alarm reduction and prevention process. Since implementing the program, the company’s dispatch rates have decreased consistently in the last several years, says Anita Ostrowki, vice president of central station services, Vector Security.
“When we dispatch help to any of our customers, authorities know the need for a response is real, which helps save precious time in an emergency,” she explains.
