Fargo Unveils a Bevy of ID Card Wares at ISC West

MINNEAPOLIS

In a busy week at ISC West, Fargo Electronics, provider of secure technologies for card identity systems, has introduced two new secure materials programs, a high-definition card printer/encoder, two complete card identity systems and a suite of digital identity and photo ID card management solutions.

The materials programs offer customers greater protection from counterfeit cards. First is Fargo’s Secure Express, a holographic overlaminate program designed to add security to entry-level card applications. Second is an embedded visual security card program that offers customizable security elements such as translucent and metallized foils, guilloche printing and UV inks. These options allow customers to design security into the construction of their ID cards and beyond the reach of counterfeiters.“Fargo’s materials team continues to work to enhance the security of our customers’ cards,” says Alan Fontanella, vice president of product marketing for secure materials and peripherals. “These new programs are an additional defense to thwart the efforts of those trying to create fraudulent ID cards. Customized holograms offer protection that’s difficult to forge but easy to authenticate.”

Fargo also introduced its HDP5000 card printer/encoder, utilizing the company’s patented High Definition Printing (HDP) technology. One of the first commercially available true single-sided reverse image printers, the HDP5000 can be upgraded in the factory or field with a dual-sided printing option, and/or a dual-sided lamination module. The lamination module applies PolyGuard Overlaminate to both sides of the printed card simultaneously for extended card life and added security and durability. Factory- or field-installed encoding modules are also available for magnetic stripes and for these types of smart-card technologies: ISO 7816 contact smart chips; MIFARE®, DESFire® and iCLASS® contactless smart chips; and HID proximity (“prox”) cards.

Fargo also brought two complete card identity systems featuring the DTC550 and the DTC400 card printer/encoders to the conference. The systems include the hardware, software and materials needed to create secure, professional ID cards. Its modular design allows the system to expand with customer needs including modules for encoding up to three different technologies, lamination for added security and durability, and Ethernet connectivity for card issuance anywhere on a network.

Finally, the company also rolled out Asure ID, its latest photo ID and ID card application control software. The suite of digital identity and photo ID card management solutions enable organizations to create, manage and verify an individual’s identity. The suite includes the Asure ID Solo, Express, Enterprise and Exchange programs.

“The integration of these software packages into our total product offering means customers can feel confident that their printer/encoder, materials, software and accessories are designed to work seamlessly with one another,” says Steve Blake, vice president of product marketing for systems and solutions at Fargo. “This compatibility means one-stop availability for our resellers, as well as unlimited free technical support. For our end user customers, this compatibility means simplified customer service. In the future, we’ll engineer features in Fargo printer/encoders and Fargo software to make the customer experience even better.”
