DALLAS – The Foundation for Advancing Security Talent (FAST) has opened the call for nominations for the 2026 Security Technician of the Year Awards, recognizing security technicians who demonstrate exceptional technical expertise, unwavering customer service and leadership that elevates their entire profession.
Award recipients will be honored during a special recognition ceremony on June 4 at the Electronic Security Expo (ESX 2026) in Irving, Texas.
“Security technicians play a vital role in the security industry, bringing the expertise and dedication needed to design, install, service and maintain the systems that protect people, property and critical assets every day,” the FAST announcement says.
“Working on the front lines, these professionals solve complex technical challenges, ensure systems operate reliably for customers and often mentor the next generation entering the field. Their craftsmanship, professionalism and commitment to doing the job right are essential to the industry’s success.”
What Are the FAST Security Technician of the Year Awards?
First introduced in 2023, the Security Technician of the Year Awards were created “to recognize the exceptional technicians whose work often happens behind the scenes but has an enormous impact,” according to the association announcement.
These awards “highlight individuals who go beyond technical proficiency—demonstrating leadership, integrity and a deep understanding that every installation, service call and customer interaction contributes to the reputation and value of the security profession,” the announcement says.
“Each year, the Security Technician of the Year Awards remind us just how much talent, dedication, and professionalism exist within the technician community,” says John Nemerofsky, chairman of the FAST board of directors and chief operating officer at SAGE Integration, in the association announcement.
“The individuals recognized through this program represent the very best of our industry—professionals who solve complex challenges in the field, deliver exceptional service to customers and take pride in the quality and integrity of their work,” he says.
“As an industry, it’s essential that we continue to invest in technicians by supporting training, career development, and recognition programs like these awards,” says Taylor Carr, FAST board member and president of Allied Universal Technology Services, in the foundation announcement.
“By highlighting outstanding individuals, we not only celebrate their achievements but also elevate the profession and inspire the next generation of technicians who will carry our industry forward,” he says.
Nominations for the FAST Security Technician of the Year Awards are due Wednesday, April 22.
